Sitka is truly a World-Class destination!! Surrounded by jagged snow capped peaks on one side, perfect strato-cone volcanos on the other and protected from the open ocean by a myriad of small islands, the area around Sitka is absolutely pristine with very diverse and abundant wildlife. A truly intact ecosystem. I'll take you to see some of my favorite scenic spots while making stops when we encounter notable species of wildlife such as whales, sea otters, coastal brown bears, bald eagles & endemic sea birds (such as puffins, murres, & rhinoceros auklets, etc), Steller sea lions and seals hauled out on rocks.
While cruising through this maze of islands, you never really know what will present itself as we pop around a corner and out a narrow passageway! It could be a humpback whale lunge feeding or a bald eagle swooping down after a herring. Or maybe it's a sea otter on its back cracking a clam or a mother otter with a newborn pup on her belly!
Who knows?? Again, hard to say what amazing site we'll see! That's one of the things that makes my job so fun for me. One thing is for certain, however...we will see some great action and have a fantastic time! There is a whole other world of amazingness just around the corner from Sitka that only a handful of Sitka visitors even know exists! I would love to take you out to explore this area and try and get you on the best wildlife action that is around that particular day.
